Mr. Naresh M Gehi, Esq. Attorney | Attorney Gehi is an immigration attorney licensed to practice law in the Eastern and Southern District of New York, and in the State of Connecticut. He is also admitted to the Court of Appeals. Attorney Gehi holds a Master of Laws degree from the University of Georgia, and was employed by former administrative judge, Jeffrey M. Gottlieb, Esq., for approximately six years. During his employment with Mr. Gottlieb, Atty. Gehi learned the art of dealing with complicated immigration cases, including H-1Bs, Labor Certifications, I-140s, I-485s, deportation proceedings, and family-based petitions. In addition, Atty. Gehi maintains an active trial practice, specializing in arguing complex deportation cases. One of Atty. Gehi's most arduous cases involved a client whose name and birth date matched that of a suspected terrorist. This case ultimately required representation in front of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and led to the client successfully obtaining his green card. Monica E. Ahmad, Esq | Monica E. Ahmad, Esq. is admitted to the New York State Bar and the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. She is a 2005 summa cum laude graduate of Barnard College and a 2008 graduate of Cornell Law School. At Gehi & Associates Monica's work includes immigration cases on behalf of clients facing removal proceedings, asylum, and family-based immigration. She is a member of the Committee on Civil Rights of the New York State Bar Association, and she contributes to the committee's blog on civil rights matters arising from the post-9/11 detention of individuals at Guantanamo Bay. She is also a member of the Workshop in Business Opportunities, where she participates in free legal clinics providing one-on-one legal advice to small business entrepreneurs. Rita M. Espinosa Arguello, Esq. | Rita M. Espinosa Arguello, Esq. graduated from Kenyon College in 2005 with a degree in Political Science and International Studies. Before arriving at Gehi & Associates, Rita worked for the Detention Watch Network on immigration detention issues coordinating efforts with immigration advocates from all over the country and wrote a working paper on immigration related raids, which was submitted to the U.N. Special Rapporteur on Immigration for his 2007 visit to the United States. While in law school at American University - Washington College of Law in Washington D.C., she interned with CAIR Coalition, where she helped to coordinate with immigration advocates for the Inter-American Commission for Human Rights' investigation on the U.S. immigration detention system and developed materials for pro-bono attorneys on gang-based asylum claims. Rita also joined her law school's prestigious UNROW Human Rights Impact Litigation Clinic in the summer of 2008 where she fought to lift immigration detainers placed on derivative U.S. citizens and later clerked at the ACLU National Prison Project where she worked on research for class-action litigation cases involving prisoner rights. |
Allison Dersch, Esq. Attorney | Allison Dersch, Esq. is admitted to the New York State Bar. She is a 2010 graduate of the Hofstra University School of Law, where she specialized in Immigration, Citizenship and Asylum studies. While at Hofstra, Ms. Dersch worked for the Political Asylum Clinic and helped to organize the First Annual Hofstra Citizenship Drive. She served on the editorial board of the Hofstra Labor & Employment Law Journal and led several student organizations, including OutLaw and the Courtroom Advocates Project. Ms. Dersch was named as a Charles Revson Law Student Public Interest (LSPIN) Fellow in 2008, a Public Justice Foundation Fellow in 2009, and was the recipient of Hofstra Law's prestigious Silver Pro Bono Award in 2010. Prior to law school, Ms. Dersch lived in Seoul, South Korea, where she worked as an English Professor at Jangan University and volunteered as an advocate on behalf of survivors of domestic violence, the Korean LGBTQ community, and Southeast Asian immigrants. When not working as an advocate, she enjoys painting, reading books about the intersections of race, class and gender, going to the roller derby and exploring New York. |

| Katherine Salzman, J.D studied Psychology and Anthropology at Hunter College where she graduated magna cum laude. Prior to attending law school, Katherine worked with developmentally disabled children and adults, specializing in integrating her clients into the community through vocational and recreational opportunities. Katherine graduated from New York Law School in 2010. During her tenure at NYLS, Katherine received the prestigious Joseph Solomon Public Interest Award and Fellowship for her work with indigent individuals in need of public assistance. Katherine effectively advocated for her clients by representing them at administrative hearings where she was able to get her clients the assistance they were eligible for. Katherine was also named to NYLS's Moot Court Association after winning the Morris Orland Award for Written and Oral Advocacy while competing in her school's Froessel Moot Court Competition. Further, Katherine competed with distinction at UCLA'S Williams Institute's Moot Court Competition on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity as well as the New York City Bar's National Moot Court Competition. Katherine has diverse experience in many areas of law including entertainment law, commercial law, family law, public interest law, administrative law, wills and estate planning and immigration law. As an advocate for environmental integrity, citizen's rights, and government transparency, Katherine has consistently worked for the public good. Katherine passed the February 2011 New York State Bar Exam is awaiting admission. |
