The immigration lawyers at Gehi & Associates have been fighting complex deportation proceedings, petitioning for asylum, and helping clients obtain immigrant and non-immigrant visas for over a decade. Our successful team of New York immigration lawyers have appeared in Immigration Court, Federal District and Circuit Court, and before United States Citizenship and Immigration Services. Our expertise extends too many areas of immigration law including political asylum, citizenship, adjustment of status, cancellation of removal, L-1 Visas, and H-1B Visas. Conveniently located in NYC, our immigration lawyers can help you navigate the complex aspects of your case.

Depending on the facts of your case the immigration process can vary greatly. If you were detained by the Department of Homeland Security and/or are facing deportation proceedings, you likely received a document titled Notice to Appear, which orders you to appear before an immigration judge, and outlines the charges of removability brought against you. The immigration lawyer’s role at this initial phase is to stay deportation, and gain release on bond if you were detained. If you are simply seeking an immigration benefit, or filing affirmatively for asylum, the immigration process starts by filing the appropriate paperwork with USCIS. After the paperwork is completed, you will either receive a letter titled Request of Evidence, asking for additional documents in support of your application, or a letter providing you with an interview date and time.

Our immigration attorneys in New York can help you with any paperwork required to obtain an immigration benefit, and can appear with you at any interview whether in immigration court, or before USCIS regardless of your location. If you are before an immigration judge presently, or the immigration benefit you are seeking gets referred to immigration court, an immigration lawyer can help you obtain additional benefits, such as cancellation of removal, or various waivers, such as 212-h. We can also help you avoid the pitfalls that are common in many complex immigration matters, as you may not be aware of many the exceptions that allow you to still qualify for an immigration benefit even if you don’t meet all the criteria.

If you are currently in removal proceedings or are considering apply for an immigration benefit, please schedule a free consultation with the NYC immigration attorneys at Gehi & Associates, so we can begin discussing your options. We have late evening and weekend appointments available to ensure conveniences for our clients. Note that the free initial consultation is only meant for prospective clients, who intend to retain the services of the firm. If you intend to handle your own matter, we will be unable to assist you.
